About

My name is Carla Martoni, an immigrant psychologist born in Brazil, having lived in the USA, England, and Italy before settling in the Netherlands.

I operate an independent private practice in Amsterdam, which is not connected to the Dutch healthcare system. This means my services are privately paid, and our work together does not require a doctor’s referral or a formal diagnosis to start. I currently do not have a waitlist, and we can typically begin within 1 to 2 weeks.

While I have been personally shaped by geographical changes, I do not lead my practice from my own history. I believe that every person’s experience is unique; my role is to explore the uniqueness of your own journey with you to understand how to shape a therapeutic approach that fits your specific needs.

Background and approach

Psychologist since 2012, graduated from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in Brazil, where I am also a licensed psychotherapist (CRP 06/171441).

My clinical approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, where I completed most of my training. In recent years, I have also specialised in CBT and contextual approaches, such as DBT and ACT, to expand my expertise and provide more comprehensive care. This allows us to collaboratively build a path tailored to your individual needs and therapeutic preferences.

Eating Disorders specialist studies and residence completed at UNIFESP (Sao Paulo, Brazil), offering you a safe space to look after your relationship with food and body image.

Postgraduate studies in Neuropsychology (University of Essex and PUC-PR).
